Anytime we have the chance to work with a local University, we take it! Andrew Powell and Jordan Jung of The University of the Cumberlands communications department paid us a visit in the spring of 2021. Around the conference table, we discussed the opportunity of live-streaming their 5 graduation ceremonies and creating an epic highlight video to show off all the events.
We got to work on research on how to best make this happen. We ordered the gear, had our full team as camera operators and the live-stream was flawless! A big win for us as this was our first-ever live streaming event.
As far as the highlight video goes, we wanted to stay true to the heart of the University! The prayers heard in the beginning are those of real University of the Cumberland students opening each ceremony. We then wanted to focus on the fellowship of it all. The pure celebration of a degree won! We gathered plenty of shots of the students taking their final pictures on campus with each other, friends, family, and faculty! Loved ones came from far and wide to see these students walk across the stage to accept their diplomas from President Cockrum offering a COVID-19 friendly fist bump. The energy on campus those days was that of pride, joy, and accomplishment. We wanted to capture that in the best way possible!
After finding the music with just the right amount of pomp, circumstance, and celebration, the rest flowed out like a river in editing. These pieces are some of our favorites for many reasons. Documenting genuine joy and happiness is always an adventure we love to go on!
